COVID REGULATION COMPLIANCE - CONDUCT AT THE WORKPLACE

 

  1. The updated Regulations under to the Disaster Management Act, published on 29 April 2020, require businesses to implement strict health and safety protocols at the workplace before resuming operations.

  2. THE COMPANY has implemented these protocols and employees have been advised thereof.

  3. Employees have an obligation to adhere to the health and safety protocols that the Company has effected in line with this regulation.

  4. All employees are obligated to ensure that they comply with the rules regulating the managing of risks at the workplace by:

    • Wearing your face mask in the workplace;

    • Adhering to bio hazardous rules in terms of disposing of masks in relevant designated areas at the worksite;

    • Adhering to social distancing requirements (1,5 meters) at workstations, canteens facilities, change rooms, meeting rooms and smoking areas;

    • Sanitising of hands frequently at the designated areas (including turnstiles, entrances and exits of buildings) with sanitizers provided;

    • Wearing of protective shields and/or any other forms of additional PPE issued, if applicable;

    • Avoiding social contact such as hugging, handshaking and/or any other forms of physical contact with fellow employees;

    • Complying with any other special measures that have been put into place for a person identified as a vulnerable employee;

  5. Employees who are identified as being at risk due to social contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or due age and/or Covid-19 comorbidities must subject themselves to a medical evaluation at the onsite clinic to enable additional protective measures to be considered.

  6. Employees are required to answer the Covid-19 questions honestly; failing to report COVID like symptoms places employees’ health at risk and poses a serious risk for the business.

  7. Any employee who breaches the rules will be subjected to progressive disciplinary action commencing with a verbal warning, depending on the severity of the potential offence and the consequences thereof. Continued breaches may result in the termination of an employee’s services due to misconduct because of the health and safety consequences to fellow employees.

Always practise these controls in your workplace

  1. Social distancing must be at least 1.5 metre away from any other person in any circumstance.
  2. Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser after contact with any person or after contact with frequently touched surfaces e. g. phones, door handles etc.
  3. Cough in the fold of the elbow or in a tissue which you discard in a bin and wash your hands.
  4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
